Now that the bowl matchups are set, here is a summary of the best of the non-BCS games.
Las Vegas Bowl Fresno State vs. USC (Dec. 21, 3:30 ABC): This is one of the more intriguing bowl games as Fresno State’s David Carr will take on a legit defense. Considering Carr’s status as an NFL prospect and Fresno State’s near-perfect season, this is a game worth paying for. It could be Carr’s big selling...Read more »
The college football season clearly has saved its best for the last regular season weekend off the season. Alabama plays at Auburn, Florida hosts Florida State, Texas A&M visits Missouri and Ohio State is at Michigan. Each of those games, and a few others not mentioned, could have some sort of effect on the BCS national championship and the Heisman Trophy race.

It's rare to see the Heisman Trophy race in such flux. For a while, it was all about Johnny Manziel, then it was about Marcus Mariota, then about Jameis Winston. At this point, it's anybody's race. If integrity and character weren't factors in the voting, Winston would probably win in a walk. But his legal problems opened the door for two to three other players. A.J. It's pretty obvious what the game of the week is. Alabama vs. Texas A&M has enormous implications. Outside of Saturday's Alabama game and a midseason tilt at Ole Miss, the Aggies won't be tested again until a showdown at LSU on November 23. They don't face Florida, Georgia or South Carolina, which means a win against the Crimson Tide would vault them into the top three where they could sit all...Read more »
Alabama is fresh off a convincing win over Virginia Tech in its opener a few weeks back and got last Saturday off to rest up for the much-anticipated trip to College Station this week.
The time off was surely a good way for the top-ranked Crimson Tide to reflect on last season’s game against Texas A&M. It’s rematch time as Alabama plays No. 6 Texas A&M and reigning Heisman Trophy winner...Read more »
