Sean Richardson’s 78-yard touchdown run and Tyler Burns’ two-point conversion with 12:57 remaining in the third quarter was all that St. Lawrence needed in its 8-0 Liberty League win over host USMMA on Saturday.

St. Lawrence stopped a potential game-tying USMMA touchdown drive on fourth-and-5 with 2:28 remaining in the fourth quarter and proceeded to run out the clock to preserve the win.

USMMA quarterback Brice Moore completed 7 of 12 passes for 126 yards and added 22 carries for 76 yards. Luke Tiefenthaler carried the ball 12 times for 45 yards and Aaron Rice added a 66-yard reception for the Mariners.

USMMA (4-3 overall, 3-2 Liberty League) was held to 299 yards of total offense and converted only 4 of 16 third-down attempts. Its defense held St. Lawrence to 4 of 17 on third down.

St. Lawrence (7-0 overall, 4-0 Liberty League), which is ranked 15th in the NCAA Division III rankings, was averaging 38 points per game prior to yesterday’s matchup.

Patrick Keyes and Anthony Sandoval each had interceptions for the Mariners. Ian Stoner and Brian Harris each tallied seven tackles and a sack.
