MIKE RICE FIRED FOR BERATING PLAYERS | 2013
The former Rutgers basketball coach was fired on April 3, 2013, after video footage that showed him physically and verbally abusing players was aired April 2 on ESPN's "Outside the Lines." Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti had viewed the video in November, and suspended Rice for three games, fined him $75,000 and ordered him to take anger management classes. Rutgers later said "a review of previously discovered issues" was the reason behind Rice's firing.(Credit: AP)
