Farmingdale State falls to Williams in first round

Farmingdale State's run came to an end Saturday with a 2-0 loss to Williams in the first round of the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament in Norton, Mass.

Caitlyn Clark scored off a feed from Carla Nicasio in the 25th minute, Lindsey Vandergrift added an insurance goal at 78:45 and Hannah Van Wetter made three saves in the shutout for Williams.

Breanna Blair made six saves for Farmingdale State (13-8).

Ninth-ranked Williams outshot the Rams, 15-8. The Ephs (13-3-2) advance to the second round of the tournament and will host Wheaton Sunday.

Farmingdale State had won its sixth straight Skyline Conference title with a 3-1 win over Mount St. Mary last Sunday.
