Anderson takes over Hofstra baseball program
Hofstra's search for a new baseball coach has ended with the hiring of Patrick Anderson, who will leave his job as roving instructor for the Kansas City Royals to become Hofstra's 13th coach in the program's 71-year-history.
Anderson replaces Chris Dotolo, who left in June after a seven-year record of 125-244-1.
Anderson, 35, spent eight seasons with the Royals as a minor league hitting and catching instructor. He helped developed future Major Leaguer's Mike Sweeney, Chad Tracy, Gregg Zaun and Donnie Murphy.
Anderson, 35, also has familiarity with Hofstra baseball, having assisted former head coach Reginald Jackson for three years starting in 1999. Anderson also has worked as a personal instructor at many venues on Long Island.
