The thick of the conference season is about to begin for our local Division II teams. Here is a quick summary of where every team is and what's next.

LIU Post (7-3, 2-0 ECC): With Tobin Carberry (19 pts, 5.5 reb) and Vaughn Allen (16.4 ppg, 8.7 reb) leading the way, the Pioneers have won seven straight and are poised to make a run for the ECC title. Allen had 16 points and seven rebounds and Jonathan Koehler added 15 points for Post in an 81-68 win over St. Michaels on Wednesday. Next up for Post is a battle with Queens College on Saturday.

NYIT (7-4, 2-0 ECC): NYIT has won three of its last four and has to be pleased with its start to the ECC so far. Kayvon Robers (16.3 ppg, 7.4 reb) and Phil Izevbehai (14 pts, 39.5% -3pt) have been solid for the Bears. NYIT, fresh off a 17-day layoff, knocked off Nyack, 71-57, on Wednesday night.

Molloy (5-5, 1-1 ECC): The Lions, losers of two straight, hope to get off on a good foot against Dowling on Saturday. Led by John Petrucelli and Jimmy Nolan, the Lions can expect an excellent effort every night. Freshman guard Brandon Williams has also made a positive impact.

Dowling (3-6, 0-2 ECC): Dowling has a balanced scoring attack led by Austin Corwin (13pts), Darien Davis (11.8 pts) and Josh Malone (11.3), but it hasn’t been enough to derail a slow start. The Golden Lions did upend Adelphi, 42-41, in their most recent contest, though. They square off against Chestnut Hill College in another non-conference affair on Thursday.

Adelphi (4-8, 1-5 Northeast-10): Adelphi has struggled, but is hoping the New Year brings a turnaround. Bradley Simpson (12 pts, 6.2 reb) and John Calarco (10.3 pts, 3.1 reb) have led the way for the Panthers, who face American International College on Saturday.
