"Don't give up. ... Don't ever give up," former North Carolina State men's basketball coach Jim Valvano said in his famous 1993 ESPY speech. Valvano's speech came after he received the first-ever Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian Award at the inaugural ESPY Awards.

Nearly 10 years since he died from a long battle with bone cancer, ESPN will commemorate Valvano with its Jimmy V Week, which sets out to raise money for the V Foundation of Cancer Research.

Next Tuesday, Dec. 4, Madison Square Garden will host the 18th annual Jimmy V Classic. Georgetown will take on Texas, and North Carolina State will go head to head with UConn at the event.
