It's pretty obvious what the game of the week is. Alabama vs. Texas A&M has enormous implications. Outside of Saturday's Alabama game and a midseason tilt at Ole Miss, the Aggies won't be tested again until a showdown at LSU on November 23. They don't face Florida, Georgia or South Carolina, which means a win against the Crimson Tide would vault them into the top three where they could sit all...Read more »
Manhattan narrowly missed making the NCAA Tournament last as Iona nipped the Jaspers in the MAAC championship game, 60-57.
With several starters back, including conference defensive player of the year Rhamel Brown, Michael Alvardo and Emmy Andujar, The Jaspers have a good chance to make another run to the MAAC championship game.
Also returning for Manhattan is MAAC Co-Rookie of the year...Read more »
Alabama is fresh off a convincing win over Virginia Tech in its opener a few weeks back and got last Saturday off to rest up for the much-anticipated trip to College Station this week.
The time off was surely a good way for the top-ranked Crimson Tide to reflect on last season’s game against Texas A&M. It’s rematch time as Alabama plays No. 6 Texas A&M and reigning Heisman Trophy winner...Read more »
Talk about a big space to fill, junior Cody Precht faces a huge responsibility as he slides from right guard out to the right tackle spot that 6-8, 335-pound Michael Bamiro occupied the past three seasons at Stony Brook. Centerport native Precht has a powerful 6-3, 290-pound frame and the experience and smarts to understand how to play the position.
But “Big Mike,” as Bamiro was known to his...Read more »
The plight of LIU Brooklyn forward Julian Boyd has had more twists and turns than the Yellow Brick Road in the Wizard of Oz.
The two–time first-team All-NEC selection and 2011-12 conference player of the year tore his right ACL and will miss at least the first two months of the season.
Boyd tore the same ACL eight games into the 2012-13 season and was sidelined the rest of the year,...Read more »

It's sad to see the Notre Dame-Michigan rivalry coming to an end.
With a move to the ACC and new scheduling obligations, the Fighting Irish last year opted out of games against Michigan scheduled for 2015-17. The teams will meet next season in South Bend and then that’s it for now. The series could start up at some point in the future, but that’s undetermined.
But let’s be clear on something:...Read more »
Here are a few weekend matchups to look forward to.
No. 14 Notre Dame @ No. 17 Michigan, 8:00: This game isn’t likely to have any national title implications, but a road win in a hostile stadium would be just what Notre Dame needs. Tommy Rees was efficient in the Fighting Irish’s 28-6 win over Temple, completing 16 of 23 passes for 346 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. The competition...Read more »
Here are a few early performances that will get the Heisman voters going.
Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson, Sr.: Boyd, already a talented prospect, made a statement on Saturday night, as he helped lead his Tigers to a thrilling 38-35 win over Georgia. Boyd completed 18 of 30 passes for 270 yards, three touchdowns and no picks. He also ran for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Clemson will have to continue...Read more »
As transitions go, the move by Syracuse to the Atlantic Coast Conference promised to be a rocky one after the Orange lost coach Doug Marrone to Buffalo in the NFL at a time when quarterback Ryan Nassib graduated. But the debut of new coach Scott Shafer and quarterback Drew Allen was promising despite a 23-17 loss to Penn State Saturday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.
Shafer chose Allen, a senior...Read more »
