What goes around comes around is probably the statement of the week.

We’ll start with Ohio State, which hardly ever plays any of its in-state rivals (Dayton, Xavier, Cincinnati). The NCAA Tournament selection committee changed that temporarily as the No. 6 Buckeyes squared off against 11th-seeded Dayton in a second-round game on Saturday.

Call what you want; a case of the basketball...

It was the seventh inning stretch and Stony Brook's Frankie Vanderka figured he could do it. The senior righthander was just nine outs away from the third no-hitter of his career.

The MacArthur High School graduate got it done in grand fashion as he induced two groundouts and struck out Billy bullard for the final out in the ninth inning of Stony Brook's 7-0 win over Albany in the first game...

For the first time since he could remember, Tyler Badamo decided not to throw a baseball for nearly three months.

March Madness brings with it one of sport's unique cliche dichotomies. That bracket looks like this:

"In the NCAA Tournament, it's all about matchups" vs. "There's always a 12-seed upsetting a 5-seed."

There's an inherent contradiction there, but so be it. Hence, the "madness" of this month, which actually is scheduled to last into the following month as well.

One of those 12 vs....

LIU Post senior guard Alexis Peters had one thing on her mind after stealing an inbound pass with 1.1 second and her team trailing by one point yesterday in an NCAA Division II regional quarterfinal: hit the shot.

Peters did just that, sinking a runner as time expired to push the third-seeded Pioneers past No. 6 Assumption 60-59 at the Dana Athletic Center in Waltham, Mass.
