Manhattan basketball gets jump on season

There's nothing like getting a jump on a season.

The Manhattan Jaspers will do just that when they travel to Nassau, Bahamas on July 31 to play three games against the Bahamas national and junior national team.

The Jaspers will have two days of practice before playing on August 2, 3 and 4. Manhattan returns to New York on August 6.

Stony Brook, Steve Pikiell agree to extension

Stony Brook men's basketball coach Steve Pikiell received a contract extension through the 2017-28 season, the university announced on Thursday.

Pikiell, who will be entering his ninth season, has led the Seawolves to three America East regular season titles and two appearances in the NIT.

Brendan Twomey named Farmingdale State men's basketball coach

Brendan Twomey has been named men's basketball coach at Farmingdale State.

Twomey comes from Centenary College, where he spent one season as head coach. He spent four seasons as associate coach at Stevens Institute. Twomey also has worked as the game scout video coordinator for the NBA.
