East Coast Conference women’s basketball champion Dowling (25-3) will face NYIT (23-5) Friday at Bentley in the NCAA East Region Tournament.

Hofstra basketball coach Mo Cassara confirmed that Jamal Coombs-McDaniel is done for the season with a knee injury.

Coombs-McDaniel, a 6-foot-7 junior forward, sat out last season after transferring from the University of Connecticut. Coombs-McDaniel was part of UConn's NCAA championship team in 2010-11. He averaged 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in two seasons.

The Colonial Athletic Association, home to Hofstra’s athletic program, announced a three-year agreement to hold its men’s basketball tournament at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore starting in 2014. The tournament has been held at Richmond Coliseum since 1990. 1st Mariner Arena seats 11,800. It was the site for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament in 1995.
