Conference catching up to Nassau CC

The Northeast Football Conference has become a big challenge for Nassau CC. Programs such as Dean and Lackawanna have made strides, and though Nassau CC is still a force to be reckoned with, there is no guarantee that the Lions will emerge victorious in November.

The NJCAA preseason poll has Dean, the defending NFC champion, ranked 14th in the nation and Nassau, the runner-up to Dean last year, starts off ranked 20th.

Nassau has a new head coach, but he is no stranger to the program. Bronx product Curtis Guilliam played for Nassau, then completed his playing career at Northeastern in 2002. He has been on the Nassau staff ever since, first as the wide receivers coach and the last two as the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. Veteran Joe Osovet, who put in 15 years at Nassau before spending the last two at LIU Post, returns as Guilliam’s assistant.
