There's nothing like getting a jump on a season.

The Manhattan Jaspers will do just that when they travel to Nassau, Bahamas on July 31 to play three games against the Bahamas national and junior national team.

The Jaspers will have two days of practice before playing on August 2, 3 and 4. Manhattan returns to New York on August 6.

"This is a great opportunity for our team to prepare for the upcoming season," said Manhattan coach Steve Masiello. "It's a chance to play against outside competition and an opportunity for our young men to gain an outstanding cultural experience out of the country and create more of a family environment."

Manhattan returns four starters from last season's team, which advanced to the MAAC tournament championship game. Roslyn high school graduate George Beamon, Manhattan's leading scorer in 2011-2012 missed all but four games last season with an ankle injury, returns after receiving a medical redshirt for 2012-2013.
