Champions Radio will be the new destination for Stony Brook football and men’s basketball, the university announced Thursday.

Champions Radio, a 24-hour sports radio station launched on Aug. 5, will broadcast all of Stony Brook’s football games in 2013 and at least 18 men’s basketball games in 2013-14.

All games will be carried on 107.1 and 96.9 FM and on the internet on ChampionsRadio.com. This includes Stony Brook’s first regular season football game on Saturday at Rhode Island.

Mike Solano will do the play-by-play and Curt Hylton will provide color analysis.

“This partnership with Champions Radio is an exciting opportunity to showcase our incredible University and rising athletic program to our expanding Long Island fan base, which has requested increased Seawolves sports coverage,” Stony Brook Director of Athletics Jim Fiore said in a statement.

Other aspects of Champions Radio’s coverage of Stony Brook football and basketball include weekly on-air interviews during their morning drive show and promotions of Seawolves athletic events set to air.

WUSB, formerly the main carrier of Stony Brook football and basketball, will simulcast select Seawolves football games.

WUSB will also air select men's and women's basketball games and continue to broadcast men's soccer, lacrosse and baseball.
