Cody Pearson scored off a rebound in the 69th minute for York (Pa.) and St. Joseph's (LI) fell, 1-0, Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament in York. The Golden Eagles were eliminated.

Chris Muhs made 13 saves for St. Joseph's, which ended its season with a 13-10 record. The Eagles managed just one shot on goal -- an attempt in the first minute of the second half -- and Brad Schmidt had the save for York. Pearson received the ball on the right side and passed it toward the middle of the field to Antonio Bua, who split two defenders and reached the top of the box. Bua sent a shot on goal, but Muhs deflected it. Pearson, trailing on the play, recovered the loose ball and kicked it into the right corner at 69:10 for the Spartans (18-2-2).

York, which has made the NCAA Tournament the last eight seasons, had a 31-7 advantage in total shots, and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
