A Stony Brook University football player arrested in March on drug possession charges, pleaded not guilty in Suffolk County Court Thursday.

Davon Lawrence, 21, of Lake Ronkonkoma, remains suspended from the team until his case is resolved. He entered the plea at his arraignment hearing before Judge Mark D. Cohen in Riverhead.

Lawrence, a former All-Long Island Sachem High School North running back was arrested on March 22, by Suffolk police Fifth Precinct officers. Police said Lawrence was in a car in a business parking lot on Portion Road, when he was arrested on multiple drug possession charges. According to court records, authorities say Lawrence had cocaine.

He is scheduled for a Sept. 12 hearing.

His attorney Christopher J. Cassar was not immediately available for comment Thursday evening.
