Stony Brook cut a 12-point deficit to three with 46 seconds left but couldn't complete the comeback in a 46-43 loss to Vermont in an America East women's basketball game Saturday at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington, Vt.
Jessica Previlon had 12 points and 12 rebounds, Brittany Snow added 10 points and seven rebounds and Chikilra Goodman finished with nine points and 10 rebounds for the Seawolves (13-13, 5-8), who lost for the third time in four games.

Trailing 43-31 with 2:40 left, Stony Brook went on a 12-3 run and got within 46-43 with 46 seconds left. But SBU missed a potential game-tying three as time expired.
Sam Simonomis had 11 points and Lauren Buschmann added 10 points for Vermont (8-17, 5-7).
"We really battled back in the second half and overcame a tough shooting night," Stony Brook coach Beth O'Boyle said.
Stony Brook shot 25.9 percent (14-for-54) from the field and 11-for-21 from the free-throw line.
O'Boyle was pleased with her team's resolve despite the poor shooting.
"I was really impressed with our ability to come from behind," she said, "and have a chance to win it in the end."
