Started by New York Road Runners Club founder Aldo Scandurra. Among the Island's oldest and most active clubs; more than 500 members. Events include 5K summer series, 7 p.m. Wed. May 16-Aug. 29, preceded by 200 meter pee wee run (5 and under) 6:25 p.m. ($1), 1-mile run, 12 and under, 6:30 p.m ($1) and 5-K run at 7:00 p.m. $5 members, $9 nonmembers, $4 physically disabled and seniors older than 60 ; fall and winter Sun. series, 9 a.m. Oct. 14-Dec. 16, various distances with tune-ups for the Long Island and New York City marathons, relays and cross-country races. Free group fun runs Sun. January and February, 9 a.m. Distances include marathon tune ups and relay. All races held at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, field house behind tennis courts near parking field 2; Hangover Fun Run, 9:30 a.m. New Year's Day. Race fees only $5 members, $10 non-members. Awards in five year age groups.
