ESPN fires staffer who had affair with Phillips

One day after announcing it had parted ways with Steve Phillips, ESPN Monday said it has terminated Brooke Hundley, the 22-year-old production assistant with whom he had an affair this past summer.

The network did not elaborate on the decision to dismiss Hundley, who allegedly harassed Phillips' wife, Marni, with phone calls, a graphic letter and at least one visit to their home.

A representative for Phillips, a baseball analyst for the network, said Sunday night he would voluntarily check into a facility for treatment of his "personal issues.''- NEIL BEST

Griese suspended. ESPN broadcaster Bob Griese has been suspended one week for a remark he made about NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya during the Minnesota-Ohio State game Saturday.

Griese said Montoya, who is from Colombia, was "out having a taco." - AP
