St. John's is aiming high, but probably not close to home, in hiring a new coach. Big East schools generally don't like to raid each other. So where does the Red Storm look? Here are five possible candidates:

Billy Donovan, Florida. Long Islander and NCAA champion, would fit all the criteria. But would he come here? Oregon, with Nike money, reportedly also is in pursuit.

Seth Greenberg, Virginia Tech. Long Islander (Plainview) drew praise for being classy when he didn't make it off the NCAA bubble last week. High-profile enough?

Fran McCaffery, Siena. Ready to take the next step, but St. John's wants someone who has taken it before.

Steve Donahue, Cornell. Star of this year's Big Dance so far, a Philly kid from Big East country. But ready for Big East?

Mark Turgeon, Texas A & M. Turned around Aggies program, played at Kansas, Larry Brown disciple. But how would he fit in New York?
