Sweet Tomato Brick Oven Pizza & Grill just made its debut in the St. James space that last housed Attilio’s Grill (but is perhaps best known for hosting the former Bella Vita City Grill). The new eatery offers brick-oven pizza and an Italian repertoire. Co-owner Allison Clusel said that, for now, former Attilio's owner Sam Mancini is the chef.

Dell’Amore Pizzeria and Spaghetti House in Seaford is another post-Sandy rescue story. The little place, formerly Carmine’s Pizzeria, had been destroyed by the storm when it was bought by Scott Meisel. Meisel had cooking and management experience at such places as Aldo’s of Floral Park, 56th Fighter Group in Farmingdale and the Garden City Hotel.

The ever-evolving Farmingdale restaurant scene now has its own La Bottega. The Italian sandwich/salad/pasta/ pizza franchise group, launched in Garden City South by Giuseppe and Marisa Ruta, now numbers 13, according to Giuseppe Ruta. There are also two in Queens, two in New Jersey, one in Brooklyn and, believe it or not, in Modica, Sicily.

Tre Sorelle, tucked into a Sea Cliff strip mall, joins the ranks of Long Island spots with a pizzeria in the front and a dining room in the rear. This one is attractively appointed in soothing neutral tones.

Memories of the now-closed Torcellos in East Northport always include its grand pasta e fagioli. The thick, rich savory prosciutto-enriched macaroni and bean soup, sprinkled with freshly grated Parmesan, warmed many on chilly days.

Tre Sorelle which, in Italian means “three sisters,” is the name of the new restaurant owned by siblings Summer Butindari, Lauren Butindara and Lia Jorquera. Although none is in the kitchen cooking, all three collaborated with chef Pedro Campos, who uses their Italian family recipes.

Back in April it looked like Lindsay Lohan would be heading home to Long Island for rehab, but the troubled starlet wound up at California's Cliffside Malibu instead. But now a California judge has approved a plan that will allow her to spend the final 30 of her court-ordered 90 days at Seafield in Westhampton Beach.

It was a busy winter for Joe Celano, owner of La Casa Cafe at Crab Meadow Beach in Northport. Celano, along with two members of La Casa's crew, remodeled the interior of the restaurant without professional help.
