Antrel Rolle still believes the Giants can win their final 12 games of the regular season. But when he looks at his teammates - 104 eyeballs on 53 other players - he sees a few who do not share his conviction.
Rolle was asked during his weekly radio interview on WFAN if he thinks his teammates believe as strongly as he does.
"No, I really don't," he said. "Honestly speaking, I really don't believe that everyone believes that we can win within our locker room. And it's hard. There are guys that haven't been there before, guys who haven't been affiliated with how the Giants make comebacks and how we can come back in the games or how we can overcome adversity.
"I really don't expect every guy to believe, to have the same belief that I have or that maybe other people who have been around the organization have. But that's why we're trying to bring everyone together, that's why we're trying to get everyone on the same page. Just let them know that it's OK. We've put some awful football out there, we all understand that. But it's not too late for us to turn it around. All we have to do is believe. We can't worry about what happened in those previous four games. We can only take care of today and move on from today. That was pretty much my message to the team."
Rolle touched on a few other topics, including a statement that the 0-4 record has nothing to do with Tom Coughlin and his backing up Justin Tuck's defense of the head coach. He also said the Eagles have a lot of offensive weapons but "nothing we can't handle" and implored the fans to be loud on Sunday. "Just give us any edge right now at this point that can help us out," he said.
Rolle, of course, said on Monday that he thinks the Giants can win their final 12 games. But to get there, he said on Tuesday, they'll have to take them one game at a time.
"You can't go to a casino table and lose $100 and just try to go back and get your $100 all at once," Rolle said. "You're going to continue losing money, losing money. But if you play it $25 at a time, eventually you will get your money back. That has to be our mentality. We have to go out there and take it one game at a time. Nothing is going to erase those four losses, nothing at all. So the goal from this point on is to take it one game at a time and eventually those bucks will build."
