Boley thinks he's getting close to joining practice

It's been nine weeks since Michael Boley underwent hip surgery that was supposed to have him sidelined for eight to 10 weeks. So right on schedule, Boley has been doing some running and agility training on the sidelines during team practices.

"I think I'm getting real close, closer every day," Boley said Wednesday. He remains on the physically unable to perform list until he passes a physical, at which point he will be allowed to practice. Until then, all he can do is drills on the sideline.

Boley is suspended for the regular-season opener for violating the league's Personal Conduct Policy. But he said he would like to try to see action in the final preseason game.

Home sweet home

The Giants practiced on the grass field outside their new training facility at the Meadowlands for the first time. "I have been looking out that window at those things since we got over here in May," Tom Coughlin said. "They are very nice, and they are ours, which is really neat." . . . CB Aaron Ross (hamstring) was limping heavily and did not practice . . . LB Antonio Pierce (foot) did not practice.
