Hakeem Nicks' injury isn't getting any better, but Tom Coughlin's attitude toward it seems to be improving.

After being limited in the last three practices by a groin injury, Nicks sat out Thursday's workout completely, watching from the sideline. Coughlin expressed impatience with Nicks missing time earlier this week, but he said he is coming to grips with the situation.

"It's frustrating," Coughlin said, "but I've got to learn to control myself when it comes to that as well and realize that -- you know what? -- he's trying like heck to get out there and he knows he needs to practice and work at it."

Coughlin did say the nagging injury does not appear to be too serious.

"It's a day-to-day type of thing," Coughlin said. "They just want to quiet it down and make sure it heals before he goes out and continues to maybe make it worse."

Coughlin has never been to an induction ceremony at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he'll be there Saturday. Coughlin will join a contingent from the Giants that will fly to Canton Saturday afternoon to celebrate the induction of Bill Parcells.

"I'll leave after practice," Coughlin said. "Coaches will take over the evening meetings and then we're going to go for the ceremony to honor Bill and be there for him as Giant to Giant. And then we'll travel back."
