After weeks of players piling up on the injury report, the Giants are looking to shed a few this week. Tom Coughlin said Monday he expects cornerbacks Aaron Ross and Kevin Dockery, neither of whom has played this season because of hamstring injuries, to start practicing Wednesday.
"It's time," Coughlin said.
The Giants also could have wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who suffered a sprained foot two weeks ago, practicing this week. Nicks said he is day-to-day but expects to be ready for tomorrow's practice and possibly Sunday's game in Kansas City.
Three players were injured against the Bucs. Tackle Kareem McKenzie sprained his right knee, linebacker Chase Blackburn sprained an ankle and guard Rich Seubert aggravated a shoulder injury that has been bothering him since training camp. There's a possibility all could play Sunday.
For kicks?
Coughlin said the Giants are not bringing in a kicker for a tryout this week after Lawrence Tynes missed a short-range field goal for the second consecutive game. But he didn't sound pleased with Tynes, either.
"I think sometimes what has to happen is you practice and you have to carry it over to game day," Coughlin said. "You'd like to just stick with what has been good for you and what you practiced."
Giant steps
Fox analyst Tony Siragusa repeatedly said he thought RB Brandon Jacobs was tiptoeing through the line and not running hard. Coughlin said he didn't see that. "It's getting better; we're all getting better in the run," he said . . . LB Clint Sintim said it's been "irritating" to watch the first three games while rehabbing a groin injury but thinks he is improving.
