Latest Giants stories
The turnover problem seems to be rectified as the Giants went through a second straight game without an interception or a lost fumble. But the inability to score touchdowns is alarming. The Giants were in the red zone twice and inside the Eagles' 30 five times, settling for field goals each time. Manning completed 25 of 39 passes for 246 yards, the first 15 of which put him past Phil Simms as the franchise's all-time leader in passing yardage.
A second straight virtual shutout for a unit that has looked as dominant as they were talking about in the preseason. They held the NFL's leading rusher, LeSean McCoy, to 48 yards on 15 carries. They made four sacks after having six through the first seven games. They forced three turnovers by the Eagles and held them to a season-low 201 yards.
Those who do the kicking get an A. Josh Brown accounted for all of the team's points, going 5-for-5 on field-goal attempts. And Steve Weatherford had his best game of the year, which included tying his career high with a 68-yard punt and putting three of his five inside the 20. But the Eagles' only points came when Zak DeOssie's snap on a punt went over Weatherford's head and was recovered for a touchdown. It's the fourth time an opponent has scored a TD against the Giants' punt team this year.
Credit Perry Fewell for listening to the players and working with them to brace the defense. He's certainly gotten more aggressive: Two of the team's four sacks were from blitzing members of the secondary. The running game is still plodding along, but they're using it to balance the play-calling.
