O'Hara still taking his hits

It was hot and humid Thursday and the Giants grunted through their first practices of training camp in full pads.

Well, most of them did. Shaun O'Hara sat out again, as he has since the beginning of camp with swelling in his ankle.

The veteran center called the injury "wear and tear" - an MRI earlier this week showed no new damage - and scoffed at the idea of it being an arthritic condition.

"No, guys like Jeff Feagles have arthritis," he said. "I'm still in my 30s."

Still, O'Hara isn't practicing and isn't scheduled to until Monday. That's a mild concern for the Giants, but it is more a source of ammunition for the rest of the prankster offensive linemen. They like nothing better than throwing verbal darts at each other.

"If you're an offensive lineman and you're standing there watching practice, it's not really good," Tom Coughlin said. "Those other guys are not real charitable and wondering if you're OK and comfortable and would you like another glass of lemonade."
