The Giants have been decimated by injuries during this young season. Here is a look at the eight players the Giants have lost so far in 2011.
BRUCE JOHNSON: Ruptured Achilles
Johnson ruptured his Achilles in early August during training camp. The Giants signed the cornerback as an undrafted free agent in 2009 out of Miami. In 22 games with Big Blue he had 55 tackles and two interceptions.
BRIAN WITHERSPOON: Torn ACL
Witherspoon suffered his season-ending injury in the Giants' 41-13 preseason win over the Bears. The cornerback had a good shot at making the team following an impressive training camp.
TERRELL THOMAS: Torn ACL
Thomas was lost for the season during the Giants' 41-13 preseason win over the Bears. The cornerback led the team in tackles and interceptions the last two seasons. This was also the final year of Thomas' contract with the Giants. Thomas also tore his ACL as a sophomore at USC in 2005.
MARVIN AUSTIN: Torn pectoral muscle
One day after losing Brian Witherspoon and Terrell Thomas, the Giants placed second-round draft pick Marvin Austin on injured reserve. This will be the second straight inactive year for the defensive tackle who was suspended during his senior year at UNC for receiving improper benefits.
SAGE ROSENFELS: Back
Backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels was placed on injured reserve due to strep throat and back problems. Rosenfels appeared in one game last season at Seattle.
CLINT SINTIM: Torn ACL
Nine months after Clint Sintim had the ACL in his right knee repaired, he tore it again during the Giants' 18-17 preseason win in New England. The 2009 second-round draft pick had 33 tackles and one sack in 24 career games for Big Blue.
JONATHAN GOFF: Torn ACL
Goff tore his ACL during a drill in practice after he collided with a teammate on Sept. 5. The Giants were depending on Goff to be their middle linebacker in 2011 and become a team leader.
DOMENIK HIXON: Torn ACL
For the second straight year, Hixon will miss the rest of the season because of an ACL tear. The injury occurred during the Giants' 28-16 win over the Rams on Monday Night Football. The injury occurred when Hixon made a spectacular juggling catch for a 22-yard touchdown.
