INDIANAPOLIS -- Hakeem Nicks doesn't have a new football team yet, but he has switched up the team that will represent him in his upcoming free agency.

The wide receiver has signed with Roc Nation, the agency headed by Jay Z, to handle his marketing affairs while CAA - the established agency that has ties to Roc Nation -- will handle his contract negotiations. It's the same dynamic that represents Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, a close friend of Nicks.

Both Nicks and Roc Nation announced their agreement via Twitter. Nicks was formerly represented by agent Peter Schaffer.

It's hard to say how this will impact negotiations for Nicks' possible if improbable return to the Giants. The team has a good relationship with CAA -- Eli Manning, Mathias Kiwanuka and Cruz are among the high-profile clients who wear Giants uniforms and have worked out long-term deals.

But after two consecutive disappointing seasons, it's unlikely the Giants will pay Nicks more than the five-year, $43 million extension they gave Cruz a year ago. He'd probably receive more as a free agent, although he said toward the end of the 2013 season that he was more interested in being comfortable with a team than the money.
