Kentucky Derby: 3 Hudson Valley ways to watch
With the Kentucky Derby kicking off the first leg of the Triple Crown on Saturday, fans across the Hudson Valley will be donning fancy hats, sipping mint juleps and settling in to watch the race and cheer for their favorite horse. Here are several area places to get in the spirit.
Come early for the Fancy Derby Hat Contest: Fans 18 and older are asked to don their finest headwear, with prizes of $500 to the winner, $250 to the runner-up and $100 to the third-place finisher. Contest registration is open from 2 to 4 p.m. Beginning at 4 p.m., the raceway will offer the first 500 Empire Club Members to visit a promotions booth a free two-horse exacta box ticket for the event. Of course, Yonkers Raceway will also be simulcasting all Derby Day races from Churchill Downs, as well as hosting its own harness racing with the first post time scheduled for 7:10 p.m., and musical entertainment from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Bourbon Street in Nyack:
The restaurant host sits annual Kentucky Derby Party this Saturday. Starting at 5 p.m., the event will encourage fans to wear a derby hat, sip mint julips, nosh on complimentary snacks and take advantage of two-for-one specials while the event unfolds on one of the bar's 10 flat-screen TVs.

The Stadium in Garrison:
The bar-restaurant and sports memorabilia haven will offer half-price draft specials, half-price martinis and, of course, a viewing of the Kentucky Derby on many of the venue's 14 TV screens.
