Q & A: A couple of gimmick formations for Giants

Did the Giants use any gimmicky formations?
Yes, on offense and defense. On the first drive, they lined up with five receivers, sending Ahmad Bradshaw and Travis Beckum out of the backfield in motion. It resulted in an incomplete pass for Domenik Hixon. On defense, they unveiled their 5-1-5 set with Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck, Barry Cofield, Chris Canty and Mathias Kiwanuka across the front and Antonio Pierce as the only linebacker with five defensive backs. They did it in the third quarter and pressured Jason Campbell into throwing an incompletion.

How long will LaRon Landry hold a grudge?
Apparently for a whole season. The Redskins' cornerback who got flattened by Brandon Jacobs in last year's opener tried to exact his revenge. Only problem was he did it out of bounds on the tail end of a Jacobs run and was hit with a flag for the late hit. "The Redskins as a whole are a clean team," Jacobs said. "They just had one guy there that was a little saucy."
What about the dustup between Santana Moss and Corey Webster?
The two got into a heated exchange early in the second quarter that ended with Moss without his helmet. "I wasn't throwing the punches," Webster said. "I was trying to protect myself and stop him from throwing the punches." Webster did say he and Moss settled their differences after the game. "Me and Santana are great," he said.
Who did Webster's interception along the sideline remind you of?
If you immediately thought of Amani Toomer when Webster cut in front of Moss and tiptoed the sideline for the interception, you weren't alone. Webster said he was thinking the same thing. "He did a great job of teaching me all kinds of tricks of the trade with the receiver do's and don'ts," Webster said. "Big tip of the hat to Tooms."
Didn't it seem that Andre Carter had a grip on Eli Manning's face mask during the sack and strip in the second quarter?
Tom Coughlin thought so, too. "There were some real questionable things," Coughlin said, careful with his comments to avoid a fine. "I want to look at the tape and then I'll discuss it with Mike Pereira [the NFL head of officials]."
How long will Hakeem Nicks and Danny Ware be out?
No official word. Nicks, who called his foot sprain a "knickknack injury," will undergo an MRI today but a source familiar with the preliminary diagnosis said Nicks will miss two to three weeks. Ware dislocated his elbow on the opening kickoff and doctors were able to pop it back in promptly, but the recovery time can be anywhere from four weeks to six months.
Who suited up for the Giants for the last time?
LB Michael Boley will be activated Monday, which means one of the 53 has to go. Sinorice Moss was on the bubble, but the injuries to Nicks and Ware might have saved him. Gerris Wilkinson appears to be the odd linebacker out, assuming the Giants swap one for another.
