Hakeem Nicks is leaving a trail of intimations that he'll play this week, and Ahmad Bradshaw was able to pick up on one of them. Yes, the Giants' injury situation has now turned into an episode of Big Blue's Clues.

Bradshaw, in an ESPN Radio interview Tuesday, said he believes that Nicks will be on the field for the 49ers game Sunday because "he seemed to give me a hint that he would be."

Bradshaw did not say what that "hint" consisted of. Tom Coughlin said he would wait to see whether Nicks practices this week. He has missed the last three games with foot and, most recently, knee ailments.

Bradshaw also said that Brandon Jacobs believes he will be active for the game. Bradshaw said he spoke with Jacobs last week. That would mean Jacobs, the former Giant who injured his knee in the preseason, would make his 49ers debut against his old team.

"He said he thinks he's going to get some action, so I'm sure he is," Bradshaw said. "It's just a fun competition. It's just playing your brother outside on the playground, or your older cousin. I can't wait. I'm excited."

Rolle's knee a 'battle'

The Giants didn't think Antrel Rolle would miss any time with a minor knee injury suffered when he crashed into a camera just off the field during the Sept. 20 game against the Panthers, but nearly three weeks later, the injury is still bugging Rolle.

"I'm definitely better than I was three weeks ago," Rolle said in his weekly interview on WFAN. "It's a battle, it's a constant battle each and every day . . . With this knee injury, it's going to take some time, it's going to take some time. I never thought it would be this crucial. It's a lingering process, not anything too serious, but it's something that lingers around and sticks with you a little bit. But I'll be fine and I will be out there for the game come Sunday."
