With all signs pointing to a New York/New Jersey Super Bowl being approved sometime tomorrow afternoon, the players on the Giants must be excited, right? I mean, how often do players have a chance to strive for a Super Bowl that will be played in front of the home town fans?

Well, since the Super Bowl we're talking about won't take place until 2014 -- or the end of the 2013 season -- there's probably not a lot of reason for the players on today's Giants roster to get all worked up about it. Even if the Giants did advance to that game, only a handful of players who are currently taking part on OTAs and getting ready for the 2010 season are likely to still be around.

Consider that there are only nine current Giants who are even under contract through the 2013 season:

Michael Boley, Chris Canty, David Diehl, Eli Manning, Hakeem Nicks, Antrel Rolle, Chris Snee, Justin Tuck and Corey Webster. Only four of those -- Canty, Manning, Rolle and Snee -- are signed into the 2014 season.

So when the Giants and Jets are awarded the Super Bowl, it'll be a great moment for management and ownership of both teams. And for many fans, it will be a great opportunity to see something that they usually have to travel to Florida or Arizona to see in person.

But don't expect the players to get very amped up about it. Very few of them will even be in the picture by the time serious preparations for the game begin.
