Jake Ballard is making a push to play.

The tight end who has missed the last two games with a sprained PCL in his knee was back on the practice field for the first time today. He was wearing a brace and not involved in every drill, but he went through many of the individuals and Tom Coughlin said he might take a few team snaps if he feels up to it. We’ll find out later how that went.

Osi Umenyiora, meanwhile, was practicing and if he wasn’t full then he was at least at the same level of participation he was at last week when he was listed as limited. He suffered a minor setback on his ankle during the game against the Cowboys, but that might have just been some expected soreness in the area from playing for the first time in a month.

Mark Herzlich, who also has an ankle injury, was doing a few drills but was mostly on the side. Da’Rel Scott, who is on the injury report after hyperextending his knee on Sunday, did not appear to be limited at practice.

Also of note: Hakeem Nicks (hamstring) and Mario Manningham (knee) who were worrisome members of the injury reports last week will not appear on the list today and were scheduled to practice fully.

The only guy who wasn’t doing anything at practice was Ahmad Bradshaw, who was riding a stationary bike and keeping his weight off his cracked foot.
