Brandon Myers caught 79 passes for the Raiders last season, but when he became a free agent, the team never even threw an offer in his direction.

Myers wound up signing with the Giants in the offseason and on Sunday he’ll face his former team for the first time. He said he’s glad he wound up where he’s at, but there is still a part of him that took the snub to heart.

“I think anybody would take it personally,” he said on Wednesday.

Which is why Myers admitted what few players in his situation do, even if he did so reluctantly.

“It’s just another game,” he said before veering off from the cliché, “but this one is maybe a little bigger than the other ones.”

So far, Myers’ production hasn’t been on pace with what he accomplished with the Raiders last year. He’s caught 23 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown. He was also the target on perhaps the biggest missed opportunity of the season, the late interception Eli Manning threw against the Bears in Week 6. Throw in the open-field stumble that would have been a touchdown against the Broncos in Week 2 and it’s clear why Giants fans might be disappointed in his performance so far.

But Myers doesn’t seem to be, and he recalled one of the more disappointing games of his career. It also happened to be his first. He was a rookie who saw his first action at MetLife stadium in 2009 when the Giants trounced the Raiders, 44-7.

“I was on special teams and we were on kickoff return about every other play,” he said. “That was a long day, a long flight home for us for sure.”
