So what’s the gameplan for Friday night's preseason opener against the Jaguars?

“First preseason game? Alright, let’s play the starters 15 to 18 (snaps) maybe, play the seconds about 20 to 25, and let the thirds play anywhere from the end of the third on, maybe the top of the fourth depending on how many snaps they go,” Tom Coughlin said.

Coughlin added that there are a “considerable number” of players who will lnot make the trip to Jacksonville.

“There’s probably 11 who are not going to play and you know who they are, the PUPs and the guys who are really not practicing, they won’t play,” Coughlin added.

So who are the 11? Good question. Obviously the four on PUP (Hakeem Nicks, Chris Canty, Travis Beckum, Clint Sintim) plus Terrell Thomas, Will Beatty, Michael Boley, Jacquian Williams, Justin Trattou, Jake Muasau and Da’Rel Scott. It’s unclear if Rocky Bernard is on that list or not. He didn’t practice today because an old knee injury flared up, but it was the first practice he’s missed. If Bernard doesn’t go, the list becomes 12.

“The objective is always to win, but it’s personnel, it’s always about personnel,” Coughlin said. “We’ll play them just exactly the way I’ve talked about it and will not sacrifice that part of it. Hopefully we’re good enough and deep enough that the guys will get in the game and respond and enjoy themselves and play hard and give us a chance to really do some evaluating and trying to figure out how people fit.”
