David Wilson on his tweet: '140 characters, you can make a lot of mistakes'
David Wilson wasn’t quite aware of what folks were saying about him on Twitter and through other social media outlets after he fumbled twice in the opener in Dallas. But then …
“I started using my other phone and the notifications came in at the top,” he said.
They weren’t good. Questions about his dedication, his ability, accusations from people who had lost fantasy football games because of his fumbles.
“I just thought people might be getting the wrong impression from me so I wanted to clear it up,” Wilson said if his tweet last night, which came across a bit defensive and possibly insulting to some Giants fans.
The tweet was this:
“Ayy to fantasy participants and [angry] Giants fans ur irrelevant to me!!! Nobody wants me to succeed more than ME!!! WATCH US WORK!”
“Frustrated would be a word to describe (it),” Wilson said of his mindset at the time of the posting. “Like I said, I expect greatness out of myself and that’s what I want. I don’t want anybody to think that’s not what I want, the best thing for this team. I might have said something about the fans and offended the fans, which was not my intention. Bad choice of words. One hundred and forty characters, you can make a lot of mistakes.
“Without the fans, that’s who we play for for real is to go out there and get them wins because they look forward to seeing us win and have good games on Sundays.”
