DeOssie pulling for Lin, even though he's from Harvard
Even in the glow of a Super Bowl victory and in the midst of a Wrestlemania! announcement, Jeremy Lin is a topic of conversations.
Such was the case today when Giants long-snapper Zak DeOssie -- himself a graduate of Brown University and therefore tangled in the same Ivy as Lin -- spoke about the Knicks' sensation.
"It's unbelievable," DeOssie said. "I went to the game last night and I went last Friday against the Lakers. You always hope for the best for any Ivy League kid in any professional sport. It's great that he's doing so well and we're all very proud and very happy for him. Ivy League athletes are rare and few and far between. To see anyone come from any Ivy League school, it's great. It doesn't happen often. Even though he went to Harvard, I want him to succeed and I want him to do well."
DeOssie was at MetLife Stadium for the announcement that Wrestlemania XXIX, the WWE's annual extravaganza, will be held there on April, 7, 2013 -- less than 10 months before Super Bowl XLVIII is played there on Feb. 2, 2014.
"I'm glad you don't have a roof on the building," wrestler John Cena said, "because we would surely blow it off."
Imagine what Jeremy Lin would do if he played there.
