Time is on Eli Manning’s side this week.

The Giants quarterback noted that the game against the Browns will be played at 1 o’clock and after a crazy first four weeks of the season that included games on three different days and three prime time starts, it’s a welcome change.

“You can’t beat Sunday at 1 o’clock,” Manning said. “That’s when you like playing football. The night games are good, but three of the first four at night, I think everybody’s looking forward to it, Sunday at 1 o’ clock.”

So what is it about that time that gets Manning so charged up?

“You get up, and you go play,” he said. “Those night games, you kind of feel like you waste a full day just sitting around and waiting and waiting and waiting.”

Plus, Manning grew up following the Saints. And in those days, there were not a lot of prime time games for the Saints. There weren’t a lot of prime time games for anyone, really, but especially not the Saints.

“In New Orleans, it was 12 o’clock,” Manning said. “That’s what I thought of football. Sunday, 12 o’clock, Saints game is coming on. Now, here, 1 o’clock, that’s football time and it’s just good to get up and go play. You don’t have to sit around and wait for it.”
