“It never gets easier, because every year the principals involved are different,” said Tom Coughlin of making roster decisions on cut-down day. “My gut starts bothering me about two days before. The day of it I get the headache and the whole bit that goes with it. When you speak to these kids and you work with them and you see them, you do see their effort and what they put forth and how important it is to them. It’s not an easy thing to stand there when a young man walks into his office and as soon as you put your hand out, he starts crying.”

Here’s a list of the moves the Giants made to get to 53 players:

They terminated the contracts of QB David Carr and RB Ryan Torain.

They waived S Tyler Sash with an injury settlement.

Offensive lineman Selvish Capers (knee) was waived/injured.

Wide receiver Ramses Barden was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Defensive tackle Markus Kuhn was placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.

Safety Will Hill was moved to the NFL’s reserve/suspended list.

And the following players were waived: DEs Adrian Tracy, Adewale Ojomo and Matt Broha; DT Marvin Austin; LB Kyle Bosworth; OL Eric Herman, Matt McCants, Stephen Goodin and Bryant Browning; S David Caldwell; CBs Terrence Frederick and Charles James; WRs Kevin Hardy, Marcus Harris and Julian Talley.
