Jerry Jones wants some Giants tail

On the same day that Justin Tuck told out Bob Glauber that the Giants are "probably the least talked about Super Bowl champion ever," guess who was actually talking about them?

None other than Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

The sheriff was addressing fans during a ceremony to celebrate the start of Cowboys training camp yesterday when he reportedly told them: "Y'all should come to Cowboys Stadium and watch us beat the Giants' [butts]!”

First of all, let’s just digest the setting here. A ceremony. To celebrate the start of training camp. With, according to reports, skydivers and those iconic cheerleaders. Ok.

Now, as for his comments, well, I don’t think anyone should be surprised. The Giants have been to Jerry’s new house three times and have never lost a game. The two teams play each other in the opener on Sept. 5 at MetLife Stadium, but they won’t be in Dallas until Oct. 28. That’s clearly a date Jones has circled on his calendar.

This follows former Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett telling us at the start of the Giants’ training camp (no ceremony, no skydivers or cheerleaders, just moving bags into a dorm in Albany) that “I just want to kick those guys’ [butts],” and that he has ill feelings towards the Cowboys.

And here I was thinking that the animosity between these two teams would taper off with Brandon Jacobs out of the picture. Silly me.

It's always hard to hold someone to something they say at a pep rally. It's a pep rally. They're there to get people pepped. So when Tom Brady, for instance, invted the crowd back to Foxborough for a championship celebration before he left for Super Bowl XLVI in January, or when LeBron James started counting off how many titles he and the Heat expected to win after he signed in Miami, it's a little difficult to take it seriously. And it should come as no surprise that Jones wants a piece of what the Giants have.

Still. Fun times.
