Coming off the first win of the season, all of the Giants who will attend the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Champions for Children Gala on Friday night should be in a good mood. Especially the one who is being honored.

John Mara, president and CEO of the team, will be one of this year’s honorees. Along with Frank J.Bisignano, CEO of First Data Corporation, he will be recognized for “civic leadership and community service contributions.”

Among the players attending the event at Cipriani on 42nd Street in Manhattan will be Eli Manning, Victor Cruz, Mark Herzlich, Chris Snee, Justin Tuck, Brandon Jacobs, Prince Amukamara, Damontre Moore, Mathias Kiwanuka, Spencer Paysinger, Terrell Thomas and Justin Pugh.

The Champions for Children gala is open to the public. For ticket, corporate table and sponsorship information, call 212-627-1000 or email jayfund@resevt.com. You can also visit www.tcjayfund.org for information.

The previous eight galas have raised over $6 million and the goal for this year’s event is $1 million to help families from the New York City area with emergency household expenses, funeral costs, gas and food necessities and hospital/clinic services as they deal with the emotional, financial and physical adversity of childhood cancer.

And of course it is worth noting that the Giants are 8-0 in games that immediately follow the gala.
