Osi Umenyiora had a well-publicized spat with former Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan during the 2009 preseason, when which Sheridan criticized Umenyiora during a film session, prompting Umenyiora to leave the Giants’ training complex in a snit.

The Giants will face Sheridan’s defense on Sunday against the Bucs, but Umenyiora insists he harbors no ill will against Sheridan, the Bucs’ first-year defensive coordinator.

“Bill and I had one problem, and that was it,” Umenyiora said after today’s practice. “Since then, we’ve been cool. We had that one issue, and that was it. We’re fine.”

Sheridan served only one year as the Giants’ defensive coordinator. He was fired after the team surrendered 427 points, the second most in team history.
