Ryan Nassib wants to make an impression, then start working on his impressions
We probably (and hopefully for Giants fans) won’t see much of rookie quarterback Ryan Nassib after tomorrow night’s preseason finale in which he’ll come off the bench immediately behind Eli Manning and likely see more snaps against the Patriots than he has during the entire preseason.
But just because we won’t see him doesn’t mean the Giants won’t. If Nassib does win the immediate backup job and not the backup-to-the-backup, his role will be very important to the team even if he’s not on the field with them on gamedays. He’ll be in charge of running the scout team to give the Giants defense a good idea of what opponents will be running against them. He’s been doing that during the preseason already.
“Scout team is a part of football and it’s actually a real way for me to learn so I’m taking those reps just as serious as any other rep,” Nassib said.
He may have to brush up on his Tony Romo imitation for Week 1.
“We’ll get there,” he said. “I’ll make sure I’m watching cut-ups of him and be ready to sling it.”
He's already wearing the same number as Romo, so he's got a head start there.
