Giants veteran safety Antrel Rolle has expressed an interest in remaining with the team for the rest of his career, but it looks like this may be his last season in New York.

Rolle, 31, said there have been no discussions with the Giants about extending his deal. He is in the final year of a five-year, $37 million contract he signed in 2010.

Rolle doesn't appear troubled...

Realizing how difficult it can be to keep up with every detail throughout the day, I’ll try to post a digest each night that lets you know what the most significant parts of training camp were so you can at least appear to be in tune with the team when you gather around the water cooler.

Here are the four most important things you need to know about what went down at Giants training camp today:

Practice report 7/22: Giants pick up the pace

As a reporter who tries to jot down a note on every snap in training camp, this summer is going to be a challenge. That’s because the tempo of practice was noticeably quicker than it has been in the past. I don’t have an exact time – I think I’ll try to bring a stopwatch and figure that out in the coming days believe it or not -- but the snaps-per-minute were definitely ramped up.

“There are...

When healthy, David Wilson ready to shine in Giants' new offense

Running back David Wilson hasn’t yet played in the Giants’ new offense, but when he does he thinks he’ll be able to flourish.

"No decisions," he said.

And he’s not the first player to note the simplicity of the system. The wide receivers have been glowing about not having to decipher coverages and signal their intentions back to the quarterback like they used to do under the...

The growth of Antrel Rolle at safety

Antrel Rolle was the Giants’ best defensive player in 2013. His position coach said he can still be better.

“Antrel is now starting to understand and develop as a safety,” coach Dave Merritt said on Thursday. “He was a corner as we all know, drafted out of Miami. Then all of a sudden he was a safety. He’s now starting to understand the position more than ever. Before, he didn’t see formations,...

Tom Coughlin to Giants: See you soon

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin answers

(Credit: Kathleen Malone-Van Dyke)

The Giants may be on vacation for the next 31 days, but Tom Coughlin made it clear to players that they are still Giants.

“The ‘NY’ never comes off,” he told his players as they departed with the close of minicamp on Thursday.

“We always talk about being smart,” Coughlin said, explaining his message. “Be responsible. Don’t let someone who has nothing invested in your future make decisions...

Making noise on offense

One thing about the new Giants offense was obvious at Wednesday’s minicamp practice: It was louder.

But not because of the players.

Instead it was the coaches who were barkin’, screamin’, cajolin’, yellin’ (and yes, sometimes cussin’) with the kind of urgency that a team feels when it has one day of work remaining before a month's vacation and the start of training camp.

Tom Coughlin...

Eli says Peyton is a better QB, but gives himself the edge ... elsewhere

For seven years I’ve been covering Eli Manning, and in all that time I’ve been asking the wrong questions.

Jay Mohr suffers from no such deficiency.

During a radio interview on the Jay Mohr Sports show on Fox Sports Radio today, Mohr got Eli to admit that while Peyton is a better quarterback, he is a better singer … and a better lover.

During the interview, Mohr gave Eli a “pop...

Odell Beckham Jr. thought the Internet hoax involving him and a fictitious fiancée was funny at first.

“It was all a joke to me,” the Giants’ first-round pick said on Thursday in his first public comments since the scam unraveled. “I heard about it a long time ago and I kind of laughed and I thought it was funny. It slowly, slowly progressed. I was like, ‘This is not good.’ Then it got to...

With Will Hill gone, Quintin Demps gets the 'bump'

KANSAS CITY, MO - DECEMBER 01: Defensive back

(Credit: Getty Jamie Squire)

When Quintin Demps signed with the Giants, it seemed like his immediate impact would be on special teams. The Giants were looking to boost their kickoff return game and Demps gave them speed and experience at the position (plus an in-person audition from when he returned a punt for a touchdown against the Giants in Kansas City last year). That he played safety was kind of an afterthought.
