T-Rock's Take on the Giants
Some players can’t handle the pressure of playing in a contract year, knowing that they are performing for more than a lifetime’s worth of money. For Will Beatty, this season has been just the opposite. The left tackle said he has struggled in 2013 because he is trying to live up to the contract that he signed with the Giants this past offseason.
“I know I came into this year trying to do...Read more »
As long as there is hope for the Giants to make the playoffs, there will be hope that Jason Pierre-Paul returns to the field.
“If I can finish the season, I will,” the defensive end said of playing through the shoulder injury that sidelined him last Sunday. “I will continue to rehab because you never know what might happen. We win out, there’s a possibility we can get in. Who knows? If I shut...Read more »
David Diehl is the only current Giants player who was a member of the team for the 2004 draft when the franchise-altering trade for Eli Manning was made. In fact, Diehl had an up-close view of the action.
“I was at the draft that day, working the draft and doing stuff for ESPN,” he recalled today as most of the locker room conversation revolved around the trade due to this week’s game against...Read more »
Mike Tomlin was fined $100,000 by the NFL for getting too close to the field in last week’s Steelers game against the Ravens. In the preseason, Tom Coughlin was flagged for a 15-yard penalty for a somewhat similar infraction in the game against the Colts.
“Right now there’s such a premium on: ‘You better stay off the white! You better stay off the white!’” Coughlin said, referring to the broad...Read more »
Jason Pierre-Paul still seems a long way from returning to action, both in terms of distance and time. The defensive end was about as far from the practice field as a player can be without not actually being there on Wednesday, working with trainers to relieve the pain of a shoulder injury that has limited him for the last three games and sidelined him this previous Sunday.
“Anything is encouraging...Read more »
Justin Tuck said that when he came off the field from last night’s four-sack performance against the Redskins, one of the first texts he saw on his phone was from Osi Umenyiora. The two had been teammates for years and remain close friends even though Umenyiora is playing for the Falcons this year.
So what did Osi tell Tuck?
“It was an amazing performance from him and I told him how...Read more »
Hakeem Nicks was showing no lingering effects of the abdominal injury that sidelined him last week. The wide receiver was catching fade passes from the quarterbacks during warmups in today’s practice, stretching high for the football in a move that would seem to be impossible (or at least uncomfortable) with any kind of serious strain to the midsection.
Nicks seemed happy to be on the field....Read more »
Hakeem Nicks’ streak without a touchdown will continue, and this game has not even been played yet.
The wide receiver will be one of the Giants’ inactives for the game against the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Nicks had missed several practices this week with an abdomen injury (which was initially described as a groin issue), but had assured reporters on Thursday that he would be on...Read more »
Antrel Rolle didn’t go there. The safety said that he is not allowing himself to even imagine a loss to the Cowboys on Sunday, but he never said the words.
Jason Pierre-Paul didn’t go there either, although he came close. “I was almost going to say we’re going to win it,” he said earlier this week. “You never know.”
Today, Terrell Thomas spoke the phrase that ripples through rivalries...Read more »
