Hopefully you read Bob Glauber’s column today where Corey Webster talks about wanting the Giants’ defense to be the best in the league.
But Webster was also pouring superlatives on himself. Even after what many (Most? Everyone but him?) saw as a disappointing 2012 season.
“I still think I’m one of the best,” Webster said. “I think I’m a great cornerback. I go out there and compete and...Read more »
How much more valuable is Peyton Manning than Tony Romo? About $100 if you are trying to sell Giants tickets.
According to Vivid Seats, a secondary ticket marketplace, the Giants are tied for the third-most expensive ticket price in the secondary market with an average cost of $317. That’s the same as the Broncos tickets are going for. The only two teams that fetch more moola for their second-hand...Read more »
There was a new sound at practice today. The pop of plastic rang through the crisp summer air as the Giants dressed in shoulder pads for the first time since their 2012 season ended on Dec. 30. And there was much rejoicing.
"It was good, it's always good to get started that way,” Tom Coughlin said. “It was real good to see … They were very enthusiastic about it and we'd like to think...Read more »
Curtis Painter is only the second quarterback in NFL history to be a teammate of both Peyton and Eli Manning (Jared Lorenzen spent a preseason with the Colts in 2008). Painter spent three seasons with the Colts and was signed by the Giants early this offseason. So who better to talk about the brothers?
“They’re very similar,” Painter said. “Their football knowledge is so special to be around,...Read more »
Sometimes Giants fans forget that players had lives and hopes and dreams before they arrived with the team. So when they look at Mark Herzlich they see him as a linebacker entering his third year. Three years. That seems to be a fair amount of time to figure out if a player is made of NFL starting timber.
But for Herzlich, his quest to be the starting middle linebacker this season is not at...Read more »
Victor Cruz may be making some nice plays so far in training camp, but Tom Coughlin says we shouldn’t be fooled by them.
“I don’t know what you’re seeing,” he said when asked about Cruz looking sharp after missing the entire offseason program. “He’s knocking some rust off, he definitely is. He’s made some really nice plays and he’s coming along and he’s definitely going to get there, but I...Read more »
Picks aplenty at training camp today!
There were five of them, which was good news for the defense. And the good news for the offense? None of them were thrown by Eli Manning.
We’ll break down all of those interceptions plus a few other plays, but first the injury report. The five guys on PUP remained there. Chris Snee (hip), Henry Hynoski (knee), Markus Kuhn (knee) and Terrell Thomas...Read more »
Tom Coughlin has had enough of touch football.
The Giants head coach is itching to get the team into pads just as much as the players are. “We need that,” Coughlin said after a third practice in shells.
It will help the coaches evaluate the players better once they get suited up and can start hitting against each other for real, but Coughlin also noted that they need the pads to protect...Read more »
Hakeem Nicks was limited in today’s practice a day after experiencing tightness in his groin. For those not in the know, the word “limited” means he participated in a few drills, ran a few routes, but sat most of them out. For example: He took a few reps in 11-on-11 action, but did not have any passes thrown to him. He did not go in 7-on-7 work. But he did do some individual drills with the quarterbacks.
Eli...Read more »
When Will Beatty was drafted by the Giants, one of his big measuring sticks was always Osi Umenyiora. He would go against the veteran defensive end in practice to see how he was progressing, and eventually he got to the point where he was able to square off with Osi and make both of them better.
Justin Pugh doesn’t seem to have that kind of veteran barometer. At least not yet. For now, the...Read more »
