Jason Pierre-Paul has admitted that he has not been playing up to the 2011 standard he set for himself. But he also pointed out that neither is anyone on the team, really, and in fact this year’s roster might not be as good as that Super Bowl team.
“We had a number of studs on that team and we was able to get the job done,” Pierre-Paul said. “Here, this team, we’ve still got some similarities,...Read more »
Jon Beason has been a Giant for three weeks. He’d like to stay much much longer.
“I don’t plan on going anywhere, ever,” the linebacker and free agent at the end of this season said today. “Ever.”
Beason, who has led the Giants in tackles in each of his two games as a key part of the defense, has already fallen in love with New York after spending his career as a Pro Bowl player but...Read more »
All things considered, Victor Cruz would rather not be in Philadelphia.
“We don’t enjoy playing there,” the Giants receiver said of the annual trip down the Turnpike. “It’s something we have to do.”
They have to do it on Sunday, returning to Lincoln Financial Field. So what makes it so terrible?
“Just the atmosphere and it’s not the best place we always want to go and play,” Cruz...Read more »
David Baas fought through multiple offseason surgeries to be ready for the start of training camp, an accomplishment he was very proud of. Since the season started, though, it’s been injury after injury. Today, the starting center was put on season-ending injured reserve after re-injuring his knee in Monday night’s game against the Vikings.
Baas played only one full game this season. He missed...Read more »
Peyton Manning is doing something today that Eli Manning hardly ever does. He’s missing practice with an injury.
Big Brother apparently tweaked his ankle and is taking a day off from the workouts today, and he’s expected to be back in the Broncos’ saddle by tomorrow and in time for Sunday’s game. But it’s still enough to send ripples.
So how has Eli been able to avoid injury? Look around...Read more »
All signs seem to be pointing towards Michael Vick starting at quarterback for the Eagles against the Giants on Sunday. All signs but one, anyway. That would be a verbalization by the head coach.
Chip Kelly continues to be politely evasive when it comes to declaring a starter with Nick Foles sidelined by a concussion and Vick not having played since he left the last game against the Giants...Read more »
Coming off the first win of the season, all of the Giants who will attend the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Champions for Children Gala on Friday night should be in a good mood. Especially the one who is being honored.
John Mara, president and CEO of the team, will be one of this year’s honorees. Along with Frank J.Bisignano, CEO of First Data Corporation, he will be recognized for “civic leadership...Read more »
With the NFL trading deadline at the end of the week, there is still uncertainty about what the Giants will do with Hakeem Nicks. Certainly there are contending teams that are in the market for a wide receiver – the Colts, Patriots, Falcons and Packers – and Nicks isn’t exactly a major contributor to the Giants’ offense these days. On Monday he was targeted 10 times and caught just two passes.
But...Read more »
In other Antrel Rolle news, the Giants safety said his hit on wide receiver Jerome Simpson last night was “absolutely not a penalty” and he will appeal any fines that the NFL levies against him for the play.
The play happened with a little less than two minutes left in the first half and Rolle came across the field and leveled Simpson. Flags flew.
“It absolutely was not a penalty,” Rolle...Read more »
Don’t expect a sigh of relief from Antrel Rolle.
The Giants safety told WFAN during his weekly appearance that winning the first game of the season Monday night against the Vikings does not relieve the pressure that was building as the team went winless through its first six games. In fact, he said it’s just the opposite.
“I think the pressure is on now more than ever,” he said. “In...Read more »
