T-Rock's Take on the Giants
Justin Tuck spoke at today’s NFL Play 60 event at Maxson Middle School in Plainfield, NJ, about how his job description as a captain has changed this season thanks to Antrel Rolle. He said he spoke to Rolle during the offseason and asked him to be more of a vocal, rah-rah type of leader “to allow me to, when need be, go talk to guys one-on-one.”
Well, the need was be-ed on Sunday when Hakeem...Read more »
Antrel Rolle has been the outspoken voice of the Giants defense for the last several years, but there is at least one player on the unit whose words – though rare – even he must adhere to.
“If JPP says there will be blood,” Rolle said, “then there will be blood.”
He was responding to Jason Pierre-Paul’s comments about the upcoming game against the Cowboys. After Sunday’s win over the...Read more »
One of the biggest plays of the Giants game on Sunday was actually a mistake by the defense. But it was one in which they were able to recover and keep the Raiders out of the end zone.
On second-and-3 from the Giants’ 6 in the third quarter, the Raiders were driving towards a touchdown that would have given them a two-possession lead. The Raiders started out with Terrelle Pryor under center...Read more »
In other Antrel Rolle news, the Giants safety said his hit on wide receiver Jerome Simpson last night was “absolutely not a penalty” and he will appeal any fines that the NFL levies against him for the play.
The play happened with a little less than two minutes left in the first half and Rolle came across the field and leveled Simpson. Flags flew.
“It absolutely was not a penalty,” Rolle...Read more »
Don’t expect a sigh of relief from Antrel Rolle.
The Giants safety told WFAN during his weekly appearance that winning the first game of the season Monday night against the Vikings does not relieve the pressure that was building as the team went winless through its first six games. In fact, he said it’s just the opposite.
“I think the pressure is on now more than ever,” he said. “In...Read more »
The Giants had a good practice today.
Big deal. Congratulations. The Giants are still undefeated from Monday through Saturday.
As we’ve seen in the past few weeks, their good practices aren’t translating to the games on Sunday. And no one seems to understand why.
“We’re just not getting anything done on gameday,” Prince Amukamara said. “There’s really no secret recipe. It seems...Read more »
Antrel Rolle is a captain now. This is what he said about the team:
“We need to understand that and we need to get extremely better. Not just a little bit better, but a whole lot better. Like I said, that’s in all three phases of the game and I think that we’re not finishing games. I don’t think we’re playing with the excitement, the enthusiasm. What it looks like from the sideline, and outside...Read more »
As a safety, Cooper Taylor is used to being the last line of defense. But being the only one? That’s a little jarring.
So when the rookie looked at the depth chart after this weekend’s cuts and realized that he’s the only other true safety on the roster besides starters Antrel Rolle and Ryan Mundy, it caught his attention.
“It’s something you definitely see, that there are no other guys...Read more »
Jason Witten set an NFL record for tight ends when he caught 18 passes for a career-best 167 yards against the Giants the last time the two teams met. Antrel Rolle says that won’t happen again.
“He's done that one time since I've been here, had that miraculous game," Rolle said. "That's not gonna happen again. I can assure that. He will not have 17, 18 catches a game. That's not...Read more »
It was an injury that cost Antrel Rolle to miss the previous two preseason games. And it was an injury that nudged him back into last night’s preseason finale.
With fellow starting safety Stevie Brown out for the season with a torn ACL he suffered last week, Rolle wanted to get some in-game reps with his new wingman before the regular season opens on Sept. 8. So instead of sitting out the...Read more »
