One man’s contract dispute is another man’s opportunity, so, third-year wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan knows now is the time to make an impression on the Giants’ coaching staff while Pro Bowl receiver Victor Cruz sits out during contract negotiations. Jernigan was the “Z” receiver in place of Cruz during Wednesday’s first OTA practice of the spring.

Giants starting fullback Henry Hynoski suffered a knee injury on the second play of the team period during their OTA practice Wednesday and was carted off the field. The club later said Hynoski will undergo an MRI exam to determine the severity of the injury.

Eli Manning said he doesn’t have a sense of when Victor Cruz may sign a new contract or his tender offer and return to the Giants’ offseason workouts. He does, however, have a hope for when that happens. And it’s coming up soon.
